The Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, has openly admitted to keeping an eye on George Russell‘s whereabouts after 2025. The latter’s current deal with Mercedes is slated to come to a close at the end of next year.
With Max Verstappen being linked to Mercedes and Aston Martin, Red Bull is keeping its options open. In recent times, Verstappen has been heavily linked with a move to the Silverstone-based team following Adrian Newey‘s arrival.
Moreover, in the Mercedes setup, many are seeing next year’s tussle between George Russell and Kimi Antonelli as a bit of a shootout for 2026.
George Russell is out of contract at the end of next year, you'd be foolish not to take that into consideration.Christian Horner said via F1.com.

Russell is one of the best drivers on the modern F1 grid. He’s had Lewis Hamilton‘s number in qualifying and has pretty much dominated him in this aspect. Horner is well aware of the scintillating pace of the 26-year-old and is thus, keeping tabs on him for a potential future seat at Red Bull.
George Russell will be in full ‘ATTACK’ mode during Singapore GP
While Christian Horner has his eyes set on George Russell, the latter did a good job in yesterday’s Marina Bay qualifying. He pulled off a lap good enough for fourth place and is thus, eyeing a podium in the night race. The 26-year-old has Hamilton, Verstappen, and McLaren’s Lando Norris starting ahead of him.
We can ultimately see today as a good recovery. Yesterday, we were on course to be mired in the midfield and yet here we are with a second-row lock-out. We would love to be starting further forward but the team has done a great job to get us back on track so a big thank you to them. Hopefully, we can go on the attack tomorrow and fight for the podium.George Russell via Mercedesamgf1.
Russell has proven himself as an exceptional driver since joining the Mercedes F1 team. He has produced shocking results in the past and who knows, if the front three get caught up in fighting among themselves, it could present the young Brit with a golden opportunity. Quite a few eyes will be glued on Russell’s W15 during the 62-lap Singapore GP.
