Sergio Perez, the Red Bull F1 driver, has not been having the best of times in F1. Since signing the infamous contract extension with the Milton-Keynes-based team, Perez’s graph has gone downward and it reached an all-new low at the Canadian GP.

After a shock Q1 exit in qualifying, Sergio Perez managed a DNF in the 70-lap race, and thus seeing his exploits, he has apologized to his team. Via his various social media handles, he has come up with a heartfelt apology.

The 34-year-old was nowhere near expected levels at the Canadian GP.

Looking at the reaction of the six-time race winner, it is quite clear that he is utterly disappointed with his performance in Montreal. However, he understands that what’s done is done and thus, is looking forward to hitting his marks from Barcelona onwards. His teammate, Max Verstappen scored a sensational win in the Canadian GP.

Helmut Marko deems Sergio Perez’ Montreal exploits as ‘painful’

While Perez has wholeheartedly apologized to the Milton-Keynes-based team, its advisor, Helmut Marko, also had a few things to say. After the race in Montreal, Marko gave his strong opinion on the Mexican driver’s woes.

Perez retired from the Canadian GP after smashing the rear of his RB20 into the barriers.

When the conditions change, he finds it much more difficult. But the fact that it’s already the third time is painful.
Helmut Marko said in an interview with Servus TV

Via his comments, the 80-year-old has talked about the fact that Sergio Perez has already been knocked out in Q1 three times after just nine races. This comes as a huge shock to him keeping in view the might of Red Bull’s RB20.

From Perez’s point of view, the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix holds tremendous significance. Several eyes will be glued on him during the race weekend for varied reasons.
