Sergio Perez has had an extremely rough 2024 Formula 1 season. He has not operated at the expected levels and is under threat of losing his Red Bull seat for next year. However, with the sport currently being in a short break, he has asserted that he will be quite competitive in the remaining races this year.
The ongoing campaign is 21 rounds down and only three events are remaining on the calendar. Round 22 will take place around the sparkling streets of Las Vegas where Sergio Perez managed to amass a third-place finish in 2023.

Perez has so far managed to amass only 151 points in the driver’s championship. He is in eighth place in the standings and is way off the number of points his teammate Max Verstappen has amassed while leading ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris.

While Sergio Perez hopes to make a strong impression in the remaining races of the 2024 season, he has been leading in a certain category. Perez has racked up the biggest damage bill courtesy of his several crashes this year.

As per the stats, the 34-year-old has so far cost Red Bull a whopping $4,861,000 in terms of damage to his RB20. Behind him in the list are Alex Albon and George Russell who have also rammed their respective cars into the barriers on a few occasions.

One of Perez’s biggest crashes of 2024 came at the Monaco Grand Prix, where he started from the back of the grid. As the lights went out, he was in a tussle with the Haas cars, and as a consequence, had a brutal crash.
Since then, the Red Bull driver has been on a downward trajectory for varied reasons. It will be in the best interest of Perez if he manages to put in solid performances from Las Vegas onwards. This will help in somewhat solidifying his place for next year.
