Sergio Perez opens up on the challenges one has to face when driving alongside the reigning three-time world champion, Max Verstappen. Perez has been unable to match the level and competence of Verstappen ever since joining Red Bull and has acclaimed his position as the second driver in the team.

Sergio Perez has picked up his form this season after ending 2023 on a miserable note, where he scored 290 points less than Max Verstappen. This season, however, the 34-year-old has picked up the pace, scoring 107 points and four podium places in seven races.

Perez joined Red Bull at the start of the 2021 season and has won five races, along with 28 podiums. He has been an integral part of the team and has been a key contributor to Verstappen during his title-winning escapades.

It's not fair if I'm going to speak for other drivers, but there are reasons why Red Bull doesn't work for everyone. Being Verstappen's teammate is super spicy. I'm sure I would have stood out more often if I had another teammate. However, it is a fantastic challenge. Max is the best driver, he is complete and makes few mistakes.

Red Bull reportedly offer 1-year contract to Sergio Perez

According to reports from Mexico, Red Bull has offered a new contract to Sergio Perez, as the 34-year-old driver’s contract expires at the end of this season. The outfit has also shown interest in other brewing talents in the world of F1 this year.

The team already has the contract, which is for one year. They offered it to Checo, and he said, 'Mmm, we have to review it.
Fox Sports Journalist Luis Manuel reported

There were rumors of Red Bull wanting to sign the current Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, as the talented Spaniard is also out of a contract at the end of this season and is set to be replaced by Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari from 2025 onwards.

However, reports claim that Perez has been offered a one-year contract, to which he has had a counter-offer as well. As things stand, all these things are just speculation as Red Bull is yet to make a comment regarding the same.
