Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, had a stonking outing during the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix. He was on it from the get-go and after amassing his first podium of the season, Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff, did not hold back from showering immense praise on the Brit.

Toto Wolff felt Lewis Hamilton did not put even a single foot wrong during the 66-lap race. Moreover, the former also admitted to Hamilton being simply ‘awesome’ in the way he managed his race from start to finish.

Lewis drove an awesome race, the overtake on Sainz was great to watch. He was on the top of his game and merits a third place! So as a team we are happy that the development trajectory works and we just got to add performance.

Looking at the reaction of the Austrian, it is quite clear that he is extremely happy with the shift that Hamilton put in during the Spanish GP. Moreover, he has also made it known that everything is going as per plan in terms of the development of the W15.

Lewis Hamilton feels Mercedes has to keep ‘bringing upgrades’

While Wolff has applauded Hamilton on his mega drive around the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya, the latter on the other hand, has urged Mercedes to keep bringing upgrades. Since the team’s Monaco upgrades, the team has made a major step forward.

George Russell also ended his Barcelona exploits in the close vicinity of Hamilton as he ended his race in P4.

We just gotta keep bringing upgrades. We gotta keep improving the car, there’s clear improvement and there’s just clear areas where we need to bolt on performance so that we can be in the fight with them.
Lewis Hamilton said post Spanish GP

The ongoing campaign is 10 rounds down and Mercedes is steadily starting to score solid points consistently. If the Brackley-based team can maintain their current consistency until the start of the summer break, then it will put the team in good stead for the second half of the season. With every race, the competition at the front is getting tight, and thus, Hamilton and Co. have every chance to have their say in the title fight.
