The Mercedes F1 team had one of its strongest outings of the 2024 season in Silverstone. The W15 performed extremely well around the 5.8 km circuit and it was because of this reason, Lewis Hamilton was able to sparkle his magic at the British GP.
Lewis Hamilton put in a stellar drive to come out as the surprise victor against heavy hitters like Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. As the dust has begun to settle around Mercedes’s win, its boss, Toto Wolff has recently urged his team not to get carried away.

The Austrian understands that there is still a long way to go in the ongoing campaign.
We must not get carried away. We had a win last week, benefiting from them tangling, but today we have an honest win. We had the real pace, you could see George and Lewis in the lead. And then almost under all conditions, we were there.Toto Wolff via Pitdebrief
Looking at the reaction of the Austrian, it is quite clear that he is immensely pleased with the massive upturn in the form of his team. Since Austria, Mercedes has amassed back-to-back wins at the pinnacle of motor racing.
Toto Wolff admits it was difficult for Mercedes to ‘find performance’ in last two years
While Wolff has urged his team to not take their foot off the gas, he has also taken the time to dwell on Mercedes’ struggles under the ongoing ground effect era. The Brackley-based team had a torrid time in 2022 and 2023 dealing with the new regulations.

Moreover, in the last two years, winning races became extremely tough for the mighty outfit.
No, I think that it was so difficult over the last two years that we couldn’t really find performance, we couldn’t give the drivers a car that enabled them to go for the victories. And to make him win again, the British Grand Prix, in his last race for Mercedes here, is almost like a little fairytale. We couldn’t have scripted it better.Toto Wolff said in the same interview
The 2024 F1 season is 12 rounds down with another 12 heading the way of the various F1 teams. Mercedes has so far amassed 221 points in the constructors’ standings and has slowly started catching up to the lights of McLaren and Ferrari. Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, the upcoming events before the start of the summer break are going to be extremely fascinating.
