Mercedes has failed to succeed in Formula 1’s ground-effect era. The Silver Arrows have not won a single race since George Russell’s Brazilian GP victory in 2022. Lewis Hamilton and Russell have struggled to bring good results for the team so far this season. However, team boss Toto Wolff insisted that the Brackley-based team was going to improve in the coming weeks.

Wolff claimed that Mercedes was on the right track to develop the W15. The Brackley-based team had finally understood the areas it needed to focus on for in-season upgrades for the car. Although, Toto Wolff admitted that the team needed to take a cautious approach to face any possible setbacks in the process.

We are on the right track and understood how we need to improve vehicle balance and we bring updates, to implement that. We have to gradually increase, considering that there can also be setbacks.

The Mercedes team boss highlighted the progress made by McLaren and Ferrari since last season. Wolff claimed that the former was making substantial progress from one race to the next with a promising car concept in 2023. On the other hand, the Silver Arrows had made gains step-by-step similar to the Scuderia.

The Austrian billionaire revealed that Mercedes would be bringing an update package for the next race in Canada which would further bolster the W15 car concept. Moreover, Toto Wolff claimed that the Silver Arrows would further bring upgrades at the Spanish GP.

We will have something with us in Montreal, where a special route awaits us again, and we will also do some things in Barcelona.
Toto Wolff asserted

Certainly, Mercedes’ plans for in-season upgrades must work if the team wants to win a race this season. Toto Wolff would be hoping that Lewis Hamilton ends his win drought before moving to Ferrari next year. However, it remains to be seen if the Silver Arrows can turn things around in the remainder of 2024.
