Singapore GP is the concrete proof that without Red Bull rocketships 2023 would have been the best ever
Red Bull faltered at only one race in this season, and fans are now calling it the best race in recent history.

Last Friday, the fans of Formula One bore witness to what is being touted as one of the best races in recent history. The Singapore GP, held at the famed Marina Bay Street Circuit, saw Red Bull struggle like never before in this entire season. The Austrian team had maintained a record of winning all the Grands Prix up until the F1 circus arrived in Marina Bay. But their formidable dominance disappeared in the heat of the South-Asian country as the Ferraris reigned supreme. And the fans rejoiced this event by flooding Twitter with their comments on the race–and somehow, it feels like Red Bull’s defeat made Ferrari’s victory even sweeter.
This brings us to the all-important question of whether Red Bull’s defeat after a long, long time led to this year’s Singapore GP being name one of the best F1 races in recent times. Throughout this season, Christian Horner’s team have given great performances to win all the top laurels that F1 had to offer to them–but those races were never called ‘interesting’ or ‘phenomenal’ the way the Singapore GP is being acknowledged. This makes it obvious that the mundaneness of a single F1 team always being at the top is the root cause of all of this series’ problems. If only Red Bull’s dominance was broken more often, the 2023 season would have been an excellent one.
Racing is a sport where, on some days, the teams can perform extremely well, and on the other days, they might not even finish their run. And that is what makes each Grand Prix so enjoyable in Formula One. But when it is the same face–Max Verstappen’s, in this case–that goes up on the podium, takes the trophy, poses with the same team, it becomes boring. But amidst all that, when a seeming lowlier, Carlos Sainz, delivers upon his promise to bring Ferrari their first Grand Prix win since British GP of last year, the fans remember once again why F1 is the king class of motorsports.
Christian Horner himself has accepted Red Bull were ‘scr***d’ at the Singapore GP
As the recent changes were made ahead of the Singapore GP, some of the racers were anticipating a great race because of the high downforce track. But on the other hand, the Red Bull RB-19 turned out to be an insanely frustrating machine at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The race was this sabotaged right from when Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez both were eliminated in Q2 on Saturday. Max had predicted right then that they would not be able to improve much to capture a podium in the Main Race.

And Christian Horner said, “The lap that the safety car came out in was probably strategically the worst possible lap for the strategy that we were on. The safety car completely screwed it for us.” And thus, Red Bull’s strategic gamble backfired and they could not get a good result like the ones they are mostly used to at almost every other circuit.
Going by the general consensus from the social media users on X, Reddit and all other places, F1 fans yearn for races without Red Bull dominance. This goes to prove that the viewership for the franchise might have increased manifold this year if Red Bull were not so excellent in their performance as many of the other teams are almost at par with each other, giving rise to some great competition between them.
