Floyd Mayweather finished his career 50-0, defeating elite names including Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez, and Miguel Cotto. His personal and financial life has recently drawn scrutiny, with lawsuits and disputes fueling bankruptcy speculation among fans. The former champion has also faced major legal disputes involving his finances.
Mayweather has earned more than $1.1 billion during his boxing career, with his wealth tied to boxing, promotions, and investments. His assets include luxury homes, cars, watches, and private jets. His Gulfstream G650, known as “Air Mayweather,” has been valued at around $60 million and features customized interiors and TMT branding.
Mayweather has faced financial scrutiny through lawsuits and two Nevada felony charges tied to an alleged $200,000 bad check. The former champion was recently seen at a club pulling large stacks of cash from a bag. He then displayed the money before several people, adding to the attention around his finances.

Interestingly, Mayweather filed a $175 million lawsuit against former associate Jona Rechnitz and Ayal Frist’s Frist Apex Ventures. The lawsuit alleges Rechnitz redirected Mayweather’s money into accounts connected to Frist Apex Ventures. It also claims $7.5 million was sent for an investment that was never made or returned.
However, this is not the only controversy surrounding the undefeated boxer. Mayweather was legally declared the father of a daughter in March 2026 following a Nevada court case involving dancer Paige Moorehead. He was ordered to pay $933,050 in back child support and $32,850 monthly after failure to comply with a DNA test.
Mayweather was scheduled to face Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis in an exhibition bout in June 2026. However, the event was postponed to fall 2026 amid the IRS controversy surrounding Mayweather. Despite the update, there have been no official promotional announcements or updates confirming a new date for the clash.
Manny Pacquiao has also criticized Mayweather over their proposed September 2026 rematch. Pacquiao’s team claims Mayweather accepted an advance before seeking to classify the bout as an exhibition. The Filipino legend wants the fight to be professional, while ‘Pretty Boy’ has maintained the exhibition position.
The 49-year-old was reportedly set to face Mike Tyson in an exhibition bout in March 2026 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. However, the matchup has received no major updates since. With financial rumors continuing, Mayweather appears intent on displaying his cash and maintaining his image of wealth.
Former champion shuns speculation of Floyd Mayweather’s financial situation
Floyd Mayweather has long built his public persona around displaying his wealth outside boxing. He has frequently carried large amounts of cash, including once showing $80,000 from a backpack during an ESPN appearance. He was also filmed loading bags filled with cash into an SUV during his Las Vegas strip club opening.
Terence Crawford has emerged as one of boxing’s most dominant fighters of his generation, building an elite undefeated record. He has also consistently regarded Mayweather among boxing’s all-time greats. Their technical approaches share defensive awareness, precise counterpunching, adaptability, and strong ring IQ.

There were major rumors of a potential Crawford-Mayweather meeting, with the matchup once viewed as one of boxing’s biggest possible superfights. However, the bout never materialized, leaving the two elite technicians without a professional meeting. ‘Bud’ recently addressed the reports surrounding Mayweather’s finances.
It’s sad when you hear about the people that’s coming at him and people calling him broke, which Floyd ain’t gonna never be broke. Floyd got an expensive lifestyle, and if you’re not bringing in just as much money as you’re spending, then, of course, you’re heading down the wrong path. It’s definitely a lesson learned for these young, up-and-coming athletes—and not just boxing, just athletes around the world—that tomorrow is not promised, so you need to make the right investments.

Terence Crawford is also retired, walking away undefeated after defeating Canelo Alvarez in September 2025. The Nebraska legend has now used Floyd Mayweather’s situation as an important lesson for young boxers. Crawford’s message highlights the importance of managing wealth carefully, even after earning huge purses.
