WATCH! “The day Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2 goals helped Manchester United win a historic game”
Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo was the best player in the Premier League in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 season. The Portuguese international was scoring goals for fun during that time and scored 50 goals in those two seasons alone in the Premier League.
Ronaldo scored 26 goals and provided 12 assists in the 2008/09 season in all competitions for Manchester United. 18 of those 26 goals came in the Premier League alone and the Portuguese was the 2nd highest scorer in the League that season.
He helped the Red Devils to win the Premier League yet again and reach the UEFA Champions League Final too. It was after this season that Ronaldo confirmed his transfer to Real Madrid.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur review:
Manchester United were in a title race along with Liverpool for the large part of the 2008/09 season. After mixed results and defeat to Liverpool just a few weeks back, the Red Devils had to win their game against Tottenham Hotspur as Liverpool had won their game in hand and were just a point behind Manchester United.
Tottenham were on the playing defensively in the first half of the game and their strategy worked as it was planned by their manager Harry Redknapp. Spurs took a first half 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Darren Bent and Luka Modric.
Manchester United didn’t seem to have the answer to Spurs’ strategy at all in the first half and the Red Devils weren’t impacting the game at all. The turning point in the game came in the start of the 2nd half when Sir Alex Ferguson substituted Nani for Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo was told to play on the wings.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s impact:
As soon as Ronaldo was told to play on the wings, Manchester United started attacking relentlessly from his side. Finally, in the 57th minute the Red Devils won a penalty after a foul on Michael Carrick and Ronaldo scored to start an astonishing comeback.
Just a few mins after Ronaldo’s goal, Manchester United equalised, thanks to Wayne Rooney’s brilliant goal. Manchester United were not looking to stop after that and continued attacking. A minute after Rooney scored his goal to make it 2-2, the former England international assisted Ronaldo for the goal that would complete the brilliant comeback.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored that iconic header to make it 3-2 and his celebration was even more iconic as it resonated around the world. Manchester United kept on putting the pressure on Spurs and Cristiano Ronaldo then bagged an assist to his name by assisting the former Spurs player Dimitar Berbatov to score and make it 5-2 to the Red Devils.
It was one of the best performances by Cristiano Ronaldo in a Manchester United shirt and after scoring 2 goals and providing an assist, the Portuguese international deservingly won the Man of the Match award.
