SO WRONG! Jurgen Klopp not happy with Salah Ballon d’Or ranking
Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah
Jurgen Klopp expressed his feelings and that he was “surprised” by Mohamed Salah only finishing seventh at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Lionel Messi again picked up the prestigious award for the seventh time in his career at the gala event in Paris. Finishing ahead of the most favorite contender Robert Lewandowski in second and Chelsea’s Jorginho in third.
Next in the order came N’golo Kante, Karim Benzema, and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Salah then had to settle for 7th place, despite having an amazing start to this season which has seen him score 17 goals in 18 appearances for the Reds.
Klopp’s reaction to Salah finishing 7th.
Jürgen Klopp during his interview has shared his thoughts regarding the Egyptian King’s standings in the nominations.
“I was surprised about his position,” he said at his press conference ahead of their Merseyside Derby.
“It is not in my hands. Is the Ballon d’Or journalists vote? Then yeah, don’t ask me, it’s your fault,” he said at a press conference. “If you think he should be higher up, then you should convince your colleagues. I’m really not sure about it, what it is, 100 percent.”
You can give it to Lionel Messi for the career he has had, all these kinds of things, but then don’t give it to Robert Lewandowski this time – so it’s quite tricky to win it at all. Mo Salah definitely should have been higher up.”
