Rafael Leao celebrating his goal for AC Milan
Rafael Leao is one of the most promising talents in World football at the moment. The Portuguese star has been in explosive form for AC Milan and also put a solid attacking performance for Portugal in the World Cup. Leao was linked with Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City after his consistently effective performances for the Italian club.
The AC Milan star expressed his desire of playing outside Italy in the coming years. Although, Rafael Leao insisted that he is concentrating only on his time at AC Milan. The player is filled with excitement as AC Milan is in the race to defend their Serie A title. “Experience in new league? Yes, in the future.. but now I’m 100% focused on AC Milan for time being, Leao added.
Leao won the Scudetto with AC Milan last season which raised his market value to reach $50 million. In an interview with RDP Africa, Rafael Leao also praised Premier League club Arsenal when asked about his connections with English football. “I watch many games. This year, I like Arsenal; they’re playing very well”. The Portuguese forward told RDP Africa.
Rafael Leao has been decisive for his club as he has scored 34 goals in just 135 matches in the Italian league. The former Lille star also found the back of the net for Portugal twice at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He put up a good partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo in attack in the little time he received under Santos. Leao hinted at a move away to the Premier League side Arsenal as he admired the club’s functioning. The Italians are still trying to convince him to renew his contract.
Rafael Leao’s time at AC Milan
The Portuguese striker is with the Italians since 2019. Rafael Leao cost AC Milan a total sum of $35 million in 2019. Many fans would say this is a bargain for a player like him. He has already scored 6 goals this season and seems to be ready for action in Serie A. The forward has often been effective for the Milan club because of his clinical finishing.
He is under contract with the Italian champions until 2024. Rafael Leao was named the best player in Serie A in the 2021:22 season. This is why AC Milan is pushing so hard to extend his contract but the striker still wants to move abroad in the future.
