Arturo Vidal strongly criticized Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag for his decision to remove Cristiano Ronaldo from the team, saying, “These bald guys are very complicated.”
During a recent stream, Arturo Vidal questioned ten Hag’s choice, asking, “Why would you remove Cristiano Ronaldo, the top scorer?” Ronaldo’s departure followed an interview he did with Piers Morgan, which caused a rift between him and Manchester United. Ultimately, they mutually agreed to terminate his contract. Some fans supported ten Hag’s handling of the situation.
A poor start to the 2023/24 Premier League season, however, has resurged problems of the past. Many fans online have gone back on Erik ten Hag and have claimed that he forced Ronaldo’s hand to do the interview. The Red Devils fans also feel that the Dutchman has not lived up to the mark after a handy defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford and a narrow victory against a win-less Burnley at Turf Moor.
These poor performances – further compounded by endless injuries and scandals at the club – have caused social media to start the #TenHagOut movement.
With an EFL Cup game and a Premier League game both coming against South London Side, Crystal Palace, Erik ten Hag will be hoping to come out on top as Manchester United have started the season on the wrong foot.
Erik ten Hag’s poor start in his second season
With 4 losses in 7 games, the start of his second season at United has been less than ideal for Erik ten Hag. The manager who had given the United crowd something to cheer about last season has only brought on moans and groans this season.
Erik ten Hag’s biggest criticism this season has been his style of play as many fans believe there isn’t one. Fans have been critical of what United is trying to do on the pitch as the players themselves look lost at times. Players have also come under scrutiny for not showing effort at times with Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay facing the brunt of these accusations.
Many experts and former legends also say that the Dutch manager has failed to instill a personality like Ange Postecoglou has done in so little time at Tottenham. With games coming quick and fast, Erik will be hoping his team can pick up the pace as they will face Manchester City in less than a month.
