Christopher Nkunku to undergo medical before possible move to this Premier League giant ahead of 2023 transfer window
Various English outlets have revealed that RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku had a medical with Chelsea officials in August, but the Frenchman’s future transfer has not yet been finalized. Many forwards are on Chelsea’s radar, and Nkunku is only one of them.
New co-owner Todd Boehly is eager to keep pouring the cash to give manager Graham Potter a team that can challenge for Premier League and Champions League glory. Nkunku has previously undergone a medical at Chelsea, but sources close to the 24-year-old are convinced that no deal has been struck about a potential transfer, and there is no assurance at this time that a move would ever truly happen.
In order to help Chelsea decide whether to pursue a move in 2023 when a £58 million release clause in his contract will become active, medical exams have been performed. Importantly, sources on both sides of the negotiation emphasize that Chelsea and Nkunku have not reached a personal terms agreement, and Blues sources add that a transfer fee has also not been agreed upon.
Chelsea is one of the teams considering activating Nkunku’s release clause. The France international became well-known thanks to his 20 goals and 15 assists in 34 Bundesliga games last season, and he has continued this hot streak this season with four goals in seven games.

Talks between Chelsea and Christopher Nkunku have been on the ‘initial stage’
Nkunku’s move to Stamford Bridge in 2023 is probable but far from being finalized at this early stage of the season. It’s believed that Nkunku will concentrate on the World Cup with France later this year before turning his attention to the future.
Chelsea and Leipzig are still in contact with each other over both Nkunku and centre-back Josko Gvardiol, for whom the Blues were unsuccessful with a late offer last summer. Chelsea is exploring a move for Leipzig director Christopher Vivell in addition to players, and co-owner Todd Boehly is well known for being a huge admirer of Red Bull’s multi-club, data-driven philosophy of football.
