Cristiano Ronaldo surpasses Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe to become the most ‘Googled’ football player
Ronaldo becomes the most Googled footballer in 2023
Cristiano Ronaldo is the most googled footballer in 2023 surpassing PSG duo Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. Aside from being the most Googled footballer, the Al-Nassr captain is also the most followed sportsman on social media. The Portuguese star has arguably been one of the best players of his generation winning multiple awards on club, international and individual levels. He has achieved success for every club he has played for and hopes to do the same at his current club.
Ronaldo moved to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League in December following a controversial interview with Piers Morgan which saw him getting released by Manchester United. He has adapted to the League quickly after scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists in 8 matches. The player will hope to win some silverware for a successful campaign and the team is on course to win the League title with tough competition.
His move created shockwaves around the globe as it was quite an unknown club during the time. Millions of people worldwide searched for that specific transfer news on Google, which helped Ronaldo take the top spot for the Most Googled Footballer in 2023, with over 17 million searches. Ronaldo’s move to the club, the purchase of Newcastle FC and bidding to host the 2030 World Cup, Saudi Arabia boosted their image internationally and may well be one of the top leagues of football in the future.
Al-Nassr recently slumped into second place after a 1-0 defeat to rivals Al-Ittihad. They have not won a single match against their rivals since 2018 and have continued the streak despite the presence of the former Madrid man. They face Abha both in the King Cup of Champions and the Pro League in their upcoming fixtures and will hope to get back to winning ways.
Cristiano Ronaldo posts cryptic message after Al-Nassr title blow
Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social media in the aftermath of Al-Nassr losing to Saudi Pro League title rivals Al-Ittihad to post a series of workout photos captioned with a cryptic message. The former Manchester United player captained his new club to a second defeat in Jeddah since arriving in Saudi Arabia. Romarinho scored the only goal of the game as former Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espírito Santo’s side bounced back into the top spot.
Al-Ittihad also knocked Al-Nassr out of the Saudi Super Cup in January. One point now separates the two teams atop the table with ten matches remaining, and Ronaldo has now stressed focus on what matters for the run-in. “Focus on the outcome, not the obstacles,” Ronaldo posted across his social media channels alongside images of the player doing a series of weight workouts while wearing Al-Nassr branded training attire. It is not the first time he has called for focus in the aftermath of this latest defeat either.
In its immediate aftermath, Ronaldo made his feelings clear. “Disappointed with the result, but we stay focused on our season and the games ahead,” he posted. “Thank you Al Nassr fans for your support, we know we can count on you!”
