Manchester City won the 2022-23 FA Cup beating their city rivals Manchester United 2-1 leading to a domestic double for the Sky Blues. Ilkay Gundogan was undoubtedly the star of the show scoring two long-range strikes to give Manchester City the lead. The first goal rewrote history and became the fastest goal scored in the FA Cup. However, Manchester United bounced back after Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot after an unlucky handball from Jack Grealish.

The German had a potential hattrick ruled out offside after some brilliant play from Grealish. City were having all the possession and dominance until a moment of United’s brilliance saw Alejandro Garnacho through but his shot slayed wide off the post. Garnacho popped up again but saw his shot blocked by the City defense. The young Argentinian looked more and more lively.

Kevin De Bruyne was taken off for Phil Foden as the Belgian was opted to rest by coach Pep Guardiola in the upcoming Champions League final fixture considering he is one of the key players of the squad. The City fans can be seen cheering in joy while the United fans looked absolutely devastated as they reached the final minutes of the match.

United then had a brilliant chance after chaos raged in City’s box after a cross was delivered from Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay’s header just raised above the crossbar. However, it was too late for any comebacks as their man of the match lifts the cup in front of Wembley. They will now face Inter Milan in the UCL final for a potential treble.
