Cristiano Ronaldo along with ex-Real Madrid team-mate Pepe have officially been selected for Portugal’s 26-man squad for next month’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland. The Portuguese maestro will be hoping to pick off where he left off under Roberto Martinez last time.

The Portuguese superstar scored four goals in the new Portugal manager’s first two games. These matches ended in a scoreline of 4-0 and 6-0 victories against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg respectively in March. It helped Portugal to open up a two-point lead over Slovakia in Group J of their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, with six points from two games. If Ronaldo plays against both Bosnia and Iceland, the Portugal captain will become the first men’s footballer to have won 200 senior caps.

Ronaldo has already extended his record as the most-capped men’s footballer to 198 caps in March. This left him 18 points clear of former Real Madrid teammate and Spain captain Sergio Ramos in UEFA’s all-time list.

Before the Qualifiers, Ronaldo has one last match lined up with Al Nassr on Wednesday against Al Fateh. Although the Saudi Pro League title may already be lost to Al-Ittihad. But Ronaldo and the squad will be determined to finish on a high note in front of their home crowd at Al-Awwal Park.
