Ilkay Gundogan scored within seconds after kick-off as Stefan Ortega’s goal kick clearance comes in the way of Erling Haaland who heads it down to Ilkay Gundogan. The German midfielder made no mistake after lashing it into the top right corner. The midfielder scored within 13 seconds making it the fastest goal in FA Cup history and became 1-0 for Manchester City.
Erik Ten Hag’s team has their first prolonged spell of possession in the game so far, but it breaks down when Bruno Fernandes is judged to have committed a foul by referee Paul Tierney. The ball changed possession numerous times as United tried to get forward, and are showing intensity if not quite the quality necessary to break Man City down.
It was close to being 2-0 after Rodri heads De Bruyne’s cross into the side netting. The Red Devils were being torn apart and it was all City. Manchester United finally created a promising chance after 24 minutes with some brilliant link-up play. However, Rashford heads the ball wide after a cross from Casemiro. However, soon things would go United’s way as the Red Devils were awarded a penalty which Bruno Fernandes coolly slotted in the bottom left corner.

The Sky Blues are currently dominating the match stats but all looked even after the Portuguese scored from the spot. United looked much better since then and created their best chance from a corner which Raphael Varane heads over after Cristian Eriksen‘s delivery is flicked on by Casemiro. Things are looking even now and it is going to be a feisty run of affairs.
Both coaches will be making big decisions in the upcoming second half with both teams canceling each other out. Neither of the teams will want to lose out on a domestic double and will give their all following the next 45 minutes. Both the captains scored in the first half and will inspire more from the respective teams.
