“We’re going to Wembley; Cashed in on all the luck”- Fans rejoice as Manchester United beats Fulham to reach FA Cup semis

Manchester United progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals after coming back from a one-goal deficit against Fulham. The Cottagers collapsed in an incredible five minutes, receiving three red cards and conceding two goals.

The Red Devils were unimpressive in the first half, constantly misplacing passes and losing duels. The home side looked tired, as a result of their brutal run of fixtures. Fulham was equally uninspiring, with chances few and far between.

The away side was much better after the break. Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea made two fantastic saves before Aleksandar Mitrovic gave Fulham the lead. Issa Diop got his head in front of Lisandro Martinez and flicked the ball onto the edge of the six-yard box. Mitrovic made no mistake, sending it into the back of the net from close range. It was his first FA Cup goal.

Brazilian winger Antony squared the ball to Jadon Sancho after a counter, who took the ball around Bernd Leno and faked a defender before taking a shot at goal. Willian cleared the ball off the line. However, it was deemed to be handball, resulting in a Manchester United penalty and a red card for the winger. Bruno Fernandes converted to give United the lead.

Fulham manager Marco Silva was given a red card for interfering with the referee while at the monitor. Mitrovic was sent off as well for shoving the referee. United capitalised on their weakened opponents, scoring just two minutes after their first. Sancho and Luke Shaw combined to put the ball into the box, and Marcel Sabitzer inventively put the ball home. Fernandes added a third in the final minutes, finishing off the comeback.
