Former FC Barcelona fullback Dani Alves was arrested after being charged with allegedly raping and sexually assaulting a 23-year-old girl at a nightclub in the Catalan capital. The incident took place on December 30 in a renowned nightclub called Sutton in Barcelona. The Spanish Police have kept Alves in custody since January 20 without the option to bail.
As per various reports from inside the prison, Dani Alves has already become a hot topic in prison. The Barcelona legend tries to go unnoticed by being gracious with his cellmates and avoiding any kind of misbehavior. “Alves helps where he can. He buys food for people, helps, and invites.‘ told a prisoner.
“He doesn’t talk much, but what he says is that he has not abused anyone or hit anyone. And that, if the girl had not wanted to, he wouldn’t have wanted to do it,” the prisoner exclaimed. It looks like Dani Alves has made a few acquaintances inside the jail. The Brazilian footballer hasn’t made a public statement since going to jail but has been in the headlines for the ongoing legal battle.
The Barcelona Court of Appeal will take a decision regarding Alves‘ future in a hearing held next week. Though, the Brazilian star hasn’t seen the light of freedom for over a month, as he is still waiting on the court’s final verdict. The 23-year-old girl has accused the fullback of various demeaning charges. According to reports from Marca, Dani Alves admitted to having ‘consented’ to sexual encounters with the girl. Although, the opposing party says otherwise.

The sheds of evidence gathered against Dani Alves
As per the complainant, Dani Alves forced her to sit on top of his lap, slapped her, and tried forcing himself upon the victim in a private bathroom in the Sutton nightclub. The security cameras at the club captured Alves brushing past the sobbing victim after the incident took place. This video footage is considered of high importance, as it elaborates on the details of the unfortunate events.
The victim immediately contacted the Sutton nightclub’s security, who then informed Barcelona police. According to the investigating officer, Dani Alves had fled from the scene by the time cops came to Sutton on December 30th.
Dani Alves might be facing imprisonment for up to four to twelve years since the introduction of the ‘Only Yes is Yes’ law in Spain. The Copa America winner with Brazil has already changed his statement four times, as he didn’t want his wife Joana Sanz to know that he tried cheating on her. ‘
