Gary Neville questions Manchester United's new Ronaldo Rule

Manchester United is going through tight policy changes following club legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s controversial exit. The Portuguese sensation Cristiano Ronaldo was let go by the Red Devils following his explosive interview with Perirs Morgan. United was paying the ex-Real Madrid great £500,000 each week and paying someone such a record amount just to sit on the bench troubled the club’s finance.

United looks to prevent any economic rifts in their locker room, Erik ten Hag is now claimed to be set on limiting wages at £200,000 per week. This policy is allegedly in agreement with chief executive Richard Arnold and director of football John Murtough. The new rule is dubbed the “Ronaldo Rule”.

Man United legend Gary Neville has disputed why Manchester United’s decision to implement the “Ronaldo rule” on salaries in light of the potential transfers of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe. He also pondered the reaction of potential buyers to such a choice.

“Not sure why any radical new policy is being introduced IF new owners are imminent,” he remarked on Twitter. “Capping wages is a radical policy. Rules out Rice, Bellingham, and others in that bracket. Any new owners would probably want to enter the running for these types and probably Mbappe as well,” he added.

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, a summer acquisition, is one of many Manchester United players making over £200,000 weekly. Neville said, “Seems a strange policy when you have Casemiro, others on 350/400k for four more years in the dressing room!” about attempts to change how things are done.

Manchester United’s aim to find a successor for Cristiano Ronaldo

After Cristiano Ronaldo’s shocking interview with Piers Morgan, Manchester United had to let, he go despite having thought he would continue through the rest of the season. To finish the season strong, the Red Devils are now committed to bringing in a potential successor. Erik ten Hag wishes to sign a fresh striker to make up for Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit.

In January, Manchester United planned to support Erik ten Hag with more acquisitions. According to sources, Wout Weghorst is Manchester United’s “primary goal,” and neither Vincent Aboubakar nor Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be acquired. Another player on the team’s list of prospective arrivals is Memphis Depay, a forward who FC Barcelona is willing to sell this season.

However, as reported by The Athletic, the club isn’t currently interested in Choupo-Moting or Aboubakar. After Robert Lewandowski left for Barcelona during the summer transfer window, Choupo-Moting has become more of a force for Bayern Munich. In his ten Bundesliga games, the Cameroonian international has scored six goals and three in the Champions League.
