On Sunday, it was a great day for football fans as Morocco was to play Belgium in what was a feisty encounter between both nations. Belgium won their first match against Canada and could seal their round of 16 spots with a win against the Moroccan players who fought hard in the first match to grab a point against the hard-working Denmark side.

But something unexpected happened just before the match, as goalkeeper Yassine Bono disappeared from the line-up just before kick-off, leaving all his fans shocked. He was named in the starting line-up and also sang the national anthem with his teammates before the match, but just seconds before the whistle for kick-off, second goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi was seen along with his team for the team’s pre-match photo.

Morocco shocked everyone with their incredible performance last night, made the ongoing FIFA World Cup more interesting, FIFA World Cup more interesting, and kept the group alive. They were second-best in the first half, but during the last 20 minutes, they tore apart the Belgium defense with two quick-fire goals from Abdelhamid Sabiriand and Zakaria Aboukhlal, posing the Belgian side a huge reality check.

Moroccan players celebrate a goal during the match against Belgium.

Morocco manager Walid Regragui talked with Bein Sports after the match and seemed really happy after his team’s historic performance and first-ever win in the FIFA World Cup. When asked about what went wrong with Bono just moments before the match, he replied, “He took a whack against Croatia, he was unsteady, we tried until the last moment but after the warm-up, just before the match.”

He added, “He did not feel good and he had the honesty to give way to someone else.
