Here’s why Hakim Ziyech’s loan move to PSG collapsed at the last moment
Hakim Ziyech's loan move to PSG jeopardized after Chelsea submit invalid documents
Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech
Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech has faced a major issue regarding his transfer to French Champions PSG on deadline day. The attacker was in high spirits ahead of his move to France but the deal between the two clubs collapsed after Chelsea failed to submit the correct documents to Paris Saint-Germain. Hakim Ziyech was present in Paris and completed his medical on Tuesday, 31 January.
According to reports from SportBible, the Premier League club allegedly delayed the deal by sending the wrong paperwork on three different occasions. Although the two clubs came to an agreement for Hakim Ziyech, the deal didn’t go through. He was supposed to join PSG on a loan deal with no option to buy, for the rest of the season.
Chelsea’s chaotic transfer antics disappointed PSG as a source from within the French club described the deal as a ‘Class-A Circus’. According to multiple reports, PSG is still looking for a way to bring Ziyech to Parc de Princes. They were also preparing to submit an appeal to Ligue de Football Professionnel, the French football’s governing body.
Amidst all the chaos, Chelsea has left Hakim Ziyech hanging in Paris. The player hopes for the deal to go through despite the transfer window being closed. This gives flashbacks from 2015 when David De Gea could not complete a deadline-day move to Real Madrid due to a ‘defective fax machine’.

Hakim Ziyech’s time at Chelsea FC
The former Ajax talisman joined the Premier League back in 2020 for a £33 million transfer fee. After a glorious time in the Dutch league, Hakim Ziyech moved to Chelsea in hopes of conquering Europe. Interestingly, he won the UEFA Champions League trophy with Chelsea in his first season with the Blues.
Hakim Ziyech will soon be playing his 100th game in a Chelsea shirt. He has scored 14 goals in the 98 games he has played for the Premier League side. Though, he is off to a slow start to this season as he hasn’t scored at the club level since March, last year.
The Moroccan winger was instrumental for his national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as they reached the semi-finals of the competition. He could be a suitable replacement for a departing Pablo Sarabia in Christophe Galtier’s team. Despite the deal falling off, the 29-year-old would still hope to join his national teammate Achraf Hakimi at PSG for the remaining season.
