Tottenham’s Son Heung-min, who has become the face of Calvin Klein in his native South Korea, is the most recent football player to sign a deal with the brand. After a rocky start to the season, Son scored a hat-trick in his last game for Tottenham. Son was recently introduced as a Calvin Klein brand ambassador while appearing in their underwear collection.

The 30-year-old is thrilled to have been chosen to represent the fashion brand in South Korea. “Calvin Klein products have had a special place in my wardrobe for years, so our partnership is a natural fit,” he said in a statement. “Like so many people around the world, I am constantly inspired by the brand’s iconic campaigns, so to be the face of one is both exciting and surreal.”

Son is following in the footsteps of players like David Beckham and Freddie Ljungberg, who both modelled for Calvin Klein throughout their playing days, by signing a deal with the brand. Son is currently away on international duty with South Korea, scoring in their 2-2 friendly draw against Costa Rica on Friday.

The South Korean captain had a poor start to the current campaign, but in Tottenham’s 6-2 victory over Leicester prior to the international break, he was back to his best. He had gone eight games without scoring this season until coming off the bench with 30 minutes left to play and scoring a stunning hat trick in 13 minutes.

Son’s quickfire treble made him the first-ever Spurs player to score a hat-trick off the bench in the Premier League, and the first in the top flight since 2015. “To have a player of this level on the bench it means in one moment I can change the game. This is the right path for us,” manager Antonio Conte said after the game.
