Norwich City’s sporting director Stuart Webber in a recent interview on Saturday openly gave his views on women’s football. He publicly disclosed that watching women’s football is not at all interesting to him.

Previously operated by volunteers, Norwich City integrated formally into a club in February 2022. In that same period, the club bought Flo Allen to hold the position of general manager. To help the club’s women’s team in the future.

He accepted that the game attracted fans and changed the atmosphere in the stadium. Webber’s son also enjoyed the game against Ashford Town. But the director has given his thoughts on the future of women’s football and the potential it carries.

He told, “Women’s football, I do not watch it. It’s of zero interest to me in terms of on the tally because I watch enough men’s football and if I’m not watching that, I want to watch other sports.” The 39-year-old director further added, “It’s a choice which I think should be OK.”

The director has faced criticism from the fans after he gave his views on women’s football. The fans are not just happy with his views but also because he failed to reach Premier League this season after Norwich finished 13th in English Football League.

Men have dominated football for a long time now. Fans prefer to watch men’s football over women’s for various reasons. Football got its name from players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr, Pele, Maradona, and many others such players.

These players have made men’s football popular. And people like to see the game because of these players. On the other side women’s football is not very much popular because the fans don’t prefer to see their games. The popularity of any sport depends on its viewership. And the women’s game does not have much viewership as of now.

But there are many players like Alexia Putellas, Sam Kerr, Alex Morgan, and Beth Mead who have increased the popularity of women’s football to a very great extent. And in the future women’s football will become popular if such players continue to play or other good players join the sport.
