Former Bayern Munich captain Philip Lahm recently reacted to PSG and Lionel Messi’s performance in the Champions League. Bayern Munich knocked PSG out of the Champions League round of 16.

Speaking about PSG’s style of play and form, Lahm stated: “Messi’s skills are used without purpose or direction(at PSG). The individuals do not know how to collectively score a goal and generally, how to contribute.” He then went on to compare the France based outfit to a luxury department store: “This exorbitantly expensive team resemble a luxury department store. Displaying precious exhibits that everyone marvels at, but no one can afford.”

Philip Lahm is a Champions League winner himself, leading Bayern Munich to glory in 2013. Considered to be one of the best right-backs of all time, Lahm cemented his place as a Bayern Munich legend as he won 21 titles for the club in 22 years.

PSG were knocked out of the Champions League 3-0 on aggregate at the hands of Bayern Munich. Lionel Messi was reduced to an anonymous figure in both legs as a Kingsley Coman strike in the first leg, and goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry in the second leg meant the German giants were through to the quarterfinals.

PSG are planning to ask Lionel Messi to leave the club at the end of the summer, reports emerge. The offloading will allow PSG to boost their squad with younger players while planning effectively for the future.

Sergio Ramos and Neymar are also included in PSG’s offloading plans. The news comes in the light of rumors of Messi moving to the middle east and Neymar joining Chelsea.

Messi’s contract at PSG is set to run out at the end of the season. The 35-year-old is attracting multiple clubs from across the world with Al-Hilal, Inter Miami and FC Barcelona ready to welcome the Argentine into their team.
