Newcastle manager denies Cristiano Ronaldo rumors
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe recently rejected reports of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr contract that contains a clause allowing him to come to St. James’ Park. On Tuesday, the Saudi Arabian club revealed Ronaldo in an extravagant presentation at a crowded Marsol Park arena, complete with lights and pyrotechnics.
Prior to his introduction, it was claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo had accepted a clause in his £175 million-per-year deal with Al-Nassr allowing him to play with Newcastle United the following summer. Newcastle is owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, and the agreement is dependent on the side progressing for the Champions League.
According to speculations in Spain, Ronaldo’s agreement in Saudi Arabia has a condition that would enable him to transfer to Newcastle. Ronaldo was reported to be desperate to stay in Europe after departing from Manchester United to work on adding to his Champions League goals count, but Newcastle refused to offer him a proposal, despite numerous speculations. Howe has now stated that Ronaldo’s agreement contains no Newcastle clause.
“We wish Cristiano all the best but there’s no truth in that from our perspective,” Howe clarified before Tuesday’s Premier League match with Arsenal as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Newcastle is booming under Howe and has realistic chances of competing for the Champions League this term, following a loss in just one of their first 17 Premier League fixtures.
