A source has confirmed that FIFA and Qatar have decided to ban beer sales around the eight FIFA World Cup stadiums on Friday which has raised havoc all around the world. With the big tournament just two days away from kicking off, it was a huge decision taken by FIFA and it can lead to several supporters being unhappy.

FIFA is said to have discussed this with the World Cup hosts, and the Islamic country that does not promote the consumption of alcohol. This decision is said to have come as a surprise as no such plans but some reports have confirmed that this decision was due to an intervention by a ruling family of Qatar.

The Football Supporters Association in England said, “The real issue is the last minute u-turn which speaks to a wider problem — the total lack of communication and clarity from the organizing committee towards supporters. If they can change their minds on this at a moment’s notice, with no explanation, supporters will have understandable concerns about whether they will fulfill other promises relating to accommodation, transport, or cultural issues.”
