Thomas Tuchel in an interview has opened up about his surprise appointment at Bayern Munich. Earlier today, Tuchel was unveiled as the new manager of the Bavarian giants.

The week has been a rollercoaster ride for Bayern. The sudden sacking of Julian Nagelsmann was quite surprising for the whole of the football world. It was shortly followed by the news of Tuchel being appointed as the successor of Nagelsmann at Bayern. Talking about his appointment, Tuchel said, “Things went quickly. The timing was surprising, I didn’t expect it and there was no contact beforehand. I assumed that I would continue my career abroad. The first interview was on Tuesday evening.”

Tuchel then added, he said, “I accepted quickly, Bayern DNA is all about winning. I’m convinced that it is an honor and a distinction to be contacted by FC Bayern. When you sign the contract, it’s a great honor. We can win all the titles.”

Tuchel will take his first training session at Bayern imminently. But will have to wait until Friday to work with many of the international players. A date with former club Borussia Dortmund awaits Tuchel in his first Bundesliga match in charge on April 1.

At the press conference, he said, “My coaching staff wasn’t prepared either, so a big thank you to their families for their flexibility.
