Napoli striker Victor Osimhen’s agent has announced that his player is considering legal action against club SSC Napoli for a video they posted on TikTok mocking his behavior. The Nigerian striker led the Naples-based side to their first Serie A title in over 30 years, scoring over 26 times in the league last season.
However, Napoli’s recent actions indicate a lack of respect for their striker after they posted a video on TikTok showing the player begging for a penalty. The 24-year-old’s voice was dubbed with a squeaky one, saying the words “GIMME PENALTY, PLEASE.” Napoli later deleted the video, but the damage is done.
Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has since then responded to these incidents, stating, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable….The boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news…We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.” The player is taking these actions by the club seriously.
Victor Osimhen is an extremely sought-after striker, with clubs such as Manchester United and PSG being interested in acquiring his services. The club’s actions have caused him to consider a transfer away, as they had, even earlier, mocked the player by calling him a ‘coconut’ on a previous TikTok. His services, however, will not come cheap, as Napoli has valued the player at €172 million with his contract running out in 2025.

The Nigerian striker was bought from French club LOSC Lille for €70 million plus another €10 million in bonuses in the summer of 2020. This led to the club garnering a huge Nigerian fanbase due to the striker’s popularity. Napoli may have been expecting to add more fans due to the player’s influence. However, they were not expecting what the player would eventually do for the club.
After just two seasons in Serie A, the striker led Napoli to their first Serie A title since the 1989/90 season. Osimhen scored 26 times in the league that season, creating a dynamite partnership with Georgian player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the process.
Napoli fans will be hoping they can retain the player’s services, as the club’s management has made a huge error by mocking the player on social media. Osimhen has two years left on his contract and with a player of his talent, clubs will be swarming the player if he decides to leave earlier than expected.
