Cristiano Ronaldo had a rather disappointing performance in the Saudi Super Cup on Thursday as he failed to score yet again. His fans, who were left fuming yet again took to social media to criticize the 5 times Champions League winner. It was a huge shock for Al- Nassr as they were knocked out by arch-rivals Al-Ittihad out of the Saudi Super Cup, who ended their 13-game winning streak.
All eyes had been on the Portuguese superstar, who failed to make his mark since arriving in Saudi. While Nuno Espirito Santo’s side eased into the final of the Saudi Pro Cup, Ronaldo will have to wait a little longer before he can get his hands on his first silverware in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ittihad had a firing start to the game, smashing two goals in the first half as they went into halftime with a 2 goal lead. Brazilian striker Anderson Talisca’s only goal in the second half did not prove sufficient, as Ronaldo’s header was saved by the Al-Ittihad goalkeeper. Al-Ittihad struck the final nail in the coffin in the second half, scoring their third and final goal to seal their win.
Their disappointing result has Ronaldo fans waiting to see the star in action as he will be looking to make his mark in their next game on February 3, when they face Al-Fateh in the Saudi Pro League. If Ronaldo cannot bring out his A-game, his time in Saudi will not do any favors to his reputation.
