Real Madrid striker and Balon d’Or winner Karim Benzema refuted claims of a possible switch to the Saudi League. The forward renewed his contract with the Spanish giants for another season. However, speculations are rife that the player is going to leave the club.

He was awarded the Marca Leyenda Prize honoring his career as a whole. After receiving the award, the Frenchman spoke to the media outlet about the reports of him leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season. The former Lyon man apparently remained cryptic about his long-term future at the Spanish capital. He said, “Why should I talk about the future? I’m at Real Madrid. Reality is not the same as what is said on the internet”.

Benzema reportedly received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad. He could become the latest major player to be won drawn by the Gulf state’s investment into its domestic league after his ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo joined midway through the season.

According to the reports, Benzema is also interested in the move. The striker is currently Los Blancos’ second-highest goal scorer of all time, only behind Ronaldo himself. He has scored. 353 goals in 647 games.

Real Madrid identify Havertz as a perfect No.9 replacement amidst speculations of Benzema leaving the club this summer

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a summer move for Kai Havertz as Chelsea look to cut their squad this summer. Los Blancos president Florentino Perez and head coach Carlo Ancelotti sat down for crisis talks after their bruising 4-0 Champions League semi-final defeat to Manchester City.

Real Madrid’s hierarchy reportedly discussed future plans that included transfer incomings. They have marked Chelsea forward Kai Havertz as one of those strikers who could fit in.

The German international arrived in 2020 for an eye-watering fee of £76m. Havertz could reportedly join the likes of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek on their way out of the club this summer. Madrid themselves could see a major shake-up in the attacking department this summer. Their star man Karim Benzema is yet to agree to an extension to his contract which expires in the coming weeks.

Although Benzema reportedly has a clause in his contract that was added after he won the Ballon d’Or last year. The clause is of an automatic extension of Benzema’s stay for one more season. This meant that now his contract would end in June 2024.

Ideally, Madrid would like to see a player like Havertz come in and support Benzema. But there is a chance that they will be looking to replace him if the Frenchman does decide to leave with the Saudi side Al Ittihad reportedly interested to bring the striker to Saudi Arabia with a multimillion-dollar mega-contract.
