From Becky Lynch making her much-awaited return, to former WWE Champion finally turning heel, here are five bold predictions for Raw.
5 Bold Predictions for Raw 1/20 (via WWE)
The Netflix Era of WWE Raw is in full swing, and the past two episodes of the red brand have been absolute bangers. Obviously, the inaugural episode of the show on Netflix was adjacent to a huge PLE. However, even the second episode featured huge moments like the debut of Penta and the crowning of the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion. With the next episode just a day away, fans have started to make some bold predictions for Raw, set to take place on 20/01/25.
The next episode of Raw emanates from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The promotion likely wants to keep up their hot streak by putting on a thrilling show that will keep the new viewers coming back for more. WWE has already announced several exciting segments and matches for the episode, but they can surely turn it up with some unexpected and exciting moments.
With that said, here are five bold predictions for Raw:
5. Becky Lynch returns to revisit her rivalry with Lyra Valkyria, challenges for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship
Becky Lynch returning to WWE seems inevitable at this point. She has been present in the advertising for Raw on Netflix for a while now and has even done several media appearances for the company. Reportedly, she was going to return at the first episode of Raw Netflix but plans were changed. Now, she could return at the Royal Rumble, but inserting her into the World Championship picture does not make much sense at the moment.
Fans just saw her go up against Rhea Ripley last year, and Tiffany Stratton seems to already have many other challengers waiting in line. Thus, she could instead go after Lyra Valkyria, who was recently crowned the Women’s Intercontinental Champion. The Man was unable to beat her in NXT and may want a shot at it once more. In fact, she could do wonders to elevate her fellow Irish talent regardless of the result of their feud.
4. Kairi Sane returns during Damage CTRL vs. Pure Fusion Collective
This rivalry between Damage CTRL and Pure Fusion Collective has been boiling over for months now. The heel stable injured Dakota Kai earlier last year and recently took out Kairi Sane as well. These two teams are advertised for a collision on the next episode of Raw, and this could be a great time to put an end to this feud.
Obviously, with Sane no longer on TV, the babyfaces are outnumbered. The Pure Fusion Collective is definitely not afraid to use its numbers advantage. Thus, this could be the perfect timing for the Pirate Princess to make her return, even the odds in favor of her team, and put down their opponents for good.
3. JBL has an interaction with Penta and makes a reference to his old Mexican-hating gimmick
WWE recently announced that JBL would make an appearance on the next episode of Raw. The show also emanates from his hometown of Texas. Fans already know that he will not be joining the commentary booth to replace Pat McAfee. Instead, Wade Barrett would be the commentator and Michael Cole’s partner for that show. Thus, he would likely have an exciting in-ring segment instead.
Many fans pointed out that JBL is coincidentally returning to WWE just a week after Penta‘s debut on the latest episode of Raw. The reason this is so funny is because the Hall of Famer once had a gimmick which revolved around his hate for Mexicans. In a 2004 promo, he was even seen kicking out illegal immigrants from Mexico at the US borders. He even won a “Great American Award,” which granted him a WWE Championship opportunity.
Such gimmicks and references are probably too political for current-day WWE. Besides, this is a gimmick that JBL and the promotion as a whole likely want you to forget. This makes this guess one of the most bold predictions for Raw. However, he could still have a confrontation with Penta, acting as a nod to this gimmick, and put over the Luchador.
2. Sami Zayn quits WWE
Although Sami Zayn has always been a main character on WWE programming, the promotion has hesitated to make him a mainstay in the main event scene. This has even played out in various storylines of his. The Miz poked fun at him for this lack of achievement just last week on Raw. During that episode, he also seemed to have an urgent matter at hand, which he wanted to discuss with General Manager Adam Pearce. While the subject of this matter is unknown, there have been some bold predictions for Raw which talk about how it could play out.
Now, WWE has already announced that the Underdog from the Underground will cut a promo on Monday. This is likely an announcement for him entering the Royal Rumble. However, it seems weird to advertise an entire segment for just this announcement. There is likely something bigger cooking behind the scenes, and the promotion could play into a storyline where he quits the company completely out of frustration after repeatedly failing to become a world champion.
1. Seth Rollins Turns Heel to join forces with Drew McIntyre
Over the past year or so, the WWE Universe has greatly appreciated and loved the “justified heel” gimmicks. Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens are prime examples of this phenomenon. Seth Rollins, who already plays a great heel, can do wonders if given such a character to work with.
The Visionary is advertised for a match against the Chosen One on Monday. During the match, Seth Rollins perhaps realizes that McIntyre was right all along and that they have a common enemy in Roman Reigns. This could begin his descent into being a bad guy and take on the OTC as a team, which could include the Scottish Warrior and maybe even Owens.
McIntyre and Rollins have already had multiple backstage segments on Raw teasing a potential partnership between these two old rivals. Furthermore, a heel turn by the Architect would also make his rivalry against CM Punk much more interesting.
