On Sunday, Scottie Scheffler picked up his 21st win on the PGA Tour following a dominant performance at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Following his victory, a former Masters Champion hailed him and claimed he would put him with any of the greatest athletes of all time.
The World No.1 reminded the world why he was the top-ranked golfer this week. After an opening round 68 on Thursday, he scorched the field on Friday.
In the second round, he fired a score of 61 and tied the course record at the TPC Southwind in Memphis. This performance saw him jump to the top of the leaderboard and open up a 3-shot lead.
Following his historic round, he carded a 2-under par score on Saturday. He entered the final round with a 2-shot lead and was looking for his second win of the year.
His lead dropped down to 1 after an unfortunate break on the par-5 3rd hole. His chip-in shot hit the head of a sprinkler, bounced on the greens, and rolled down into the pond. He eventually made a bogey on this hole.

He then bounced back with successive birdies on holes 5 and 6. On the back nine, he carded 3 more birdies and finished his round with a score of 66.
Sam Burns and Sungjae Im, who were 2 shots behind him at the start of the round, had a disappointing day. Burns once again collapsed in the final round, shooting 74 with 3 birdies, 3 bogeys, and 1 double bogey.
Meanwhile, Im carded a round of 74 with 1 birdie and 5 bogeys. As a result of this, Scheffler finished 8 shots ahead of runner-up Si Woo Kim and claimed another dominant win.
A masterpiece in Memphis 🏆

For Scheffler, this was his first win since the American Express Championship triumph in January. Since that win, the World No.1 had recorded 5 runners-up finishes and missed out on titles.
Following his win, 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman had some huge words for him. While discussing his victory on CBS Sports, the South African international claimed that they were in the “Scottie Scheffler era.”
We’re in right now, the Scottie Scheffler era, and understands just how great it is. I mean, I put this guy up with any of the greatest athletes of this time. He is just a dominant force week in and week out. He’s played 18 times now this season. 10 of them top four finishes and two wins in 18 starts. Every single week he’s got a shot at it, and when things go his way, he wins by eight.

This year has been a bit different compared to his previous 2 seasons. While he had been consistent enough, the lack of trophies led to some people questioning his game.
Before the U.S. Open this year, analyst Brandel Chamblee expressed that his game was “off“ and he was no longer the man who cannot be beaten.
His impressive streak of 78 consecutive cuts also came to an end after he missed the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open. With this win, he has reminded everyone how good he truly can be once he gets going.
Scottie Scheffler becomes the youngest golfer after Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus to claim 21 wins on the PGA Tour
Every time Scottie Scheffler wins, he gets compared to Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. With his victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday, the 4-time major champion became the youngest golfer after Woods and Nicklaus to claim 21 wins on the PGA Tour.

As per the PGA Tour, Nicklaus was 27 years, 0 months, and 1 day old when he claimed his 21st win. Meanwhile, Woods was 24 years, 6 months, and 23 days old when he reached this number.
Scheffler turned 30 this year in June. He had the chance to complete the career grand slam as the final round of the U.S. Open was on his 30th birthday. Unfortunately for him, that did not happen as Wyndham Clark clinched his 2nd U.S. Open title.
The World No.1 picked up his 21st victory on the tour at 30 years, 1 month, and 26 days old. He is the third youngest to reach this number of wins since 1960.
Scottie Scheffler is now the third youngest player to win 21 PGA Tour events behind just Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. He’s also won 10 of those by 4 or more shots, including twice winning by 8.

He will now turn his attention towards his title defense at the BMW Championship. Last year, he scripted a wild comeback to clinch this title.
