- Former players' disdain for LeBron James is reportedly influencing young prospects to avoid signing with Klutch Sports.
- Rich Paul claims that current and former NBA players actively recruit against Klutch due to their feelings towards LeBron.
- Younger players in the league, however, generally hold LeBron in high regard and aspire to compete against him.
There is no doubt that since LeBron James started claiming himself to be the GOAT of basketball, he has courted quite a lot of critics. Along with fans and analysts, there are also quite a few former players who do not appreciate the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.
Call it jealousy or pure disdain, watching a high schooler come into the league and immediately lap up all the attention the world can give could be a major reason.
Or, maybe the same person continues to play in the league for more than two decades, something that only 11 other people have managed to do in the NBA, it tends to hurt.
On top of that, when LeBron James manages to produce at a level that is not far removed from his career average, the amount of salt rubbed in those wounds could give someone a blood pressure spike.
I’m telling you, it’s a deeper thing. I feel the effects of it because I’ve had NBA current players and former players involve themselves in a recruiting process with a kid who’s not their son, and purposely push a kid to a different agency because of their disdain for LeBron, and I’m his guy.
Rich Paul revealed
The super agent was referring to how Klutch Sports, the sports agency he founded, feels the aftereffect of the hate these current and former players have towards his most important client.

Even though his company has helped clients sign record contracts, no matter the sport, in the NBA, he has found it harder to sign prospects just because they are being influenced by James’ jealous peers.
Current generation players admire LeBron James
While Rich Paul‘s claim that some current and many former players despise LeBron James, the tide has been shifting, especially with the new generation currently plying their trade in the NBA.

I mean, we could sit here all day and talk about the things he’s done for the game. Guy is one of the best players to ever pick up a basketball in the history of human beings… You guys don’t need me to sit here and tell you how great of a player LeBron James is.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters
The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar is about to face off against the 41-year-old in the second round of the playoffs. From his answer, it is clear that players such as him have nothing but high regard for the oldest player in the league

LeBron James has built a reputation that has seen most young prospects want to play against him before he retires. Almost every one of them has grown up watching and admiring him. Therefore, if they fight against the King, they can tell their kids or grandkids about it one day.
Stephen A. Smith ends GOAT debate
With the semi-final battle against the Oklahoma City Thunder coming up, everyone, including LeBron James, knows that it is a difficult task to defeat the defending champions.
For the sake of hypotheticals, when First Take discussed this, host Shae Cornette asked the cast whether the Akron native would leapfrog Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate if the Lakers won this series.
I have two eyes. I know what I saw watching Michael Jordan. I know what I’ve seen watching LeBron James… There’s a GOAT. Anybody that knows basketball and watched it,… we know what the hell we saw from MJ… LeBron will sit up there and beat you. Jordan snatched your heart… There’s different levels to this… I’m telling the world, you’ll never convince me that LeBron is the GOAT over Michael Jordan.

In the past, the analyst has tried to give the four-time league MVP chances to overtake Jordan in the GOAT race. He even agreed that James has inched closer. But nothing the superstar has done or will do can change Smith’s opinion.
