“F**cking Disaster,” Carlos Sainz cut a frustrated figure in the paddock after ‘disastrous’ Australian GP Qualifying result

Carlos Sainz

Carlos Sainz’s weekend just went downhill in a matter of minutes. Ferrari looked on course to fight with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez for the front row berths at the Australian GP. But it didn’t go according to plan for the Italian giants after a string of unfortunate events saw Carlos Sainz slip down to ninth. Although Charles Leclerc grabbed pole but Ferrari will take a huge hit in the constructor’s championship if Red Bull is able to capitalize.

The Spaniard was just very unfortunate with what happened in Q3. He was on a flying lap and just when he looked on course to finish it, Fernando Alonso’s crash brought in the red flags which meant he was unable to log a banker lap. The problems continued to mount up for the ex Renault and McLaren man as he couldn’t fire up the F1-75 after the restart.

Lack of time meant that Carlos Sainz didn’t have enough time to bring the tyres to ideal temperature that left him struggling on freezing cold tyres for one and only flyer before the culmination of the session. He was always in the reckoning to compete for pole after an impressive weekend up till that point. Carlos Sainz will have to bring out something special in his locker to bag some valuable points for Ferrari.

Carlos Sainz expressed his disappointment after being helpless in the dying stages of the qualifying session. The Spaniard said, “It was just a disaster.”

“In Q3 we had the red flag when I was on a good lap, we couldn’t put a banker in.”

“And then for the second Q3 lap we are investigating what happened because the engine didn’t start, so I went out three minutes late in a run plan.”

“Tremendously unfortunate having to have these two issues in the two Q3 laps. You can imagine the anger I have inside me right now.” As reported by motorsport.

There’s a not a lot Carlos Sainz could have done with the situation he found himself in. But the Spaniard will quickly need to put the disappointment behind him and focus on tomorrow’s race if he wishes to keep Ferrari in the mix.
