FIA President hails ‘lucky’ Max Verstappen and snaps at Lewis Hamilton

Jean Todt

Max Verstappen has been presented with the driver’s championship and the FIA president himself has hailed Max for what he was able to do in the whole season. He was presented with the championship at last evening’s annual Gala ceremony in Paris. Lewis Hamilton did not attend the ceremony.

It was mentioned in the Express that FIA President Jean Todt praised Max and quoted ” I think he gets what he deserves, he made a great season.” It is very obvious from his statement that he was very impressed with what the RedBull driver achieved this season. Jean Todt’s 10-year tenure as FIA president is coming to an end on 17th December and is getting replaced by Graham Stoker.

Are there going to be reprecussuions for Lewis Hamilton for missing the Gala?

Jean Todt was asked during the ceremony about Lewis Hamilton not attending the Gala, and at the question, Jean reacted in an irritating way and suggested that we should be celebrating Max for what he achieved as a young driver instead of talking about punishing Lewis Hamilton for not showing up.

He further insisted that this is not the place for any such things and said that today is the day for celebrating Max Verstappen instead of getting into any kind of controversy. He was on point with his words as he was aware that the whole world was watching and he needed to be very careful with what he said as it could lead to more controversies.

What’s next in the Abu Dhabi Saga?

We all are well aware that the FIA has launched an investigation into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix final lap incident with Lewis and Toto clearly showing their displeasure by not attending the annual FIA prize distribution Gala. It is going to be very interesting to see what the FIA is able to find out.

We are officially done with the 2021 season after last night’s Gala and the presentation of the trophy to Max. Now it is all about taking a small break for the teams and coming back stronger for next season. No matter what FIA is able to find Lewis is not going to get his 8th world title, so it is in everyone’s interest that they get their head down and start building themselves up for another grueling Formula1 season.
