Helmut Marko under immense stress: “Mercedes overtaking on the straights is not normal”
Lewis Hamilton and Helmut Marko
Even after Lewis Hamilton was handed a disqualification and had to start the sprint qualifying on Friday from the last spot, he managed to climb from P20 to P5. Having overtaken majority of the pact in just 24 laps, Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko is under immense stress and claims that the particular overtaking on the straights does not look normal at all.
According to Marko, the team is not finished with Mercedes and they are waiting for the Brazilian GP on Sunday. The 78-years-old stresses that the case is not yet done for Red Bull. Hamilton was penalized for the DRS violation, but that’s not what Red Bull has complained about. The team is referring to Mercedes’ flexible rear wing which may be illegal.
What was opinionated by Helmut Marko?
“The way the car overtakes on the straight is not normal,” said Helmut Marko on Motorsport-Magazin.com.
“It’s not a done deal at the moment,” claimed Helmut Marko. “Now we will see what happens tomorrow.” If Hamilton comes through the field at the same pace on Sunday during the race, it seems that Red Bull is warning that it is far from done.
