It has been stated in planetf1 that Helmut Marko has admitted that Ferrari has got the best engine but is adamant that they are not too worried about it. During the first testing, all the ten teams got a good look at each other’s designs and how differently the various teams have interpreted the new regulations.

The cars were different during testing in Barcelona but one thing that still was the same was the fact that RedBull and Mercedes were again at the top when it came to the timing sheets. The papaya team[McLaren] finished third in the timing sheets but still, the Maranello-based Ferrari team was the one who caught the attention of Mercedes and RedBull.

While talking about Ferrari Helmut said, “The first balance of the test in Barcelona was that Ferrari overtook Mercedes and Red Bull.”

However, both Helmut and Toto are not overly concerned with Ferrari’s progress.

Helmut Marko believes that the first testing was a positive one for RedBull with both Max and Sergio sounding pleased with the performance and mileage of the new RB18.

“Verstappen and Perez both they told us that ‘yes, it drives well,” said Marko.

Marko believes that during the 2022 season the battle for the title could very well be again between RedBull and Mercedes and feels that Sergio is going to have the upper hand over Hamilton’s new teammate George Russell.

While talking about them Helmut said “George Russell was sensational in some qualifying,” he explained, “but in the race he was only a few tenths ahead of Nicholas Latifi.”

Sergio Perez, on the other hand, is a great team-mate as well as an established driver.”

“Verstappen? I expect him to be even stronger.”
