Lewis was not able to get his hands on the driver’s championship this season but it is not all gloom for Lewis Hamilton as he was chosen for the award of the FIA personality of the year. He has got some silverware this season and it was just about right giving him the trophy as he showed tremendous class during the whole season and especially in his final post-race interview where he applauded Max.
It was mentioned in racingnews365 that Lewis got the award ahead of the lights of Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Kimi Raikkonen who were nominated for the award as well. It is no joke getting the award ahead of such legendary names of the sport.
Lewis Hamilton and his never ending list of accolades
Whenever we mention Lewis Hamilton one thing that pops up in every F1 fan’s mind is the list of accolades that Lewis Hamilton has been able to get so far in his racing career. He has so far been able to win 7 driver’s championships and is on par with Micheal Schumacher. He could have become the all-time leader if what we saw at Abu Dhabi didn’t have happened.
With him receiving the Personality of the year, he has got another trophy in his cabinet. He has also been able to win the constructors a record 8 consecutive times with Mercedes. All his accolades speak volumes about the kind of caliber Lewis has got and how much hunger he still has to win more trophies with Mercedes.
Mercedes ace driver showed his class in Abu Dhabi
With what went down at Abu Dhabi any driver would have lost his cool and said something that they would have regretted afterward. But Lewis did not even flinch during the postrace interview and in a very calm manner showed gratitude towards his team and at the same time congratulated Max Verstappen.
He was able to suck up all the anger of the race and was able to give his interview in a calm manner. While Mercedes’s team principal was going nuts at Micheal Masi’s decision, he was somehow able to do the opposite. This says a lot about Lewis as a human being. He is a very humble character and it is quite important to have such figures in the sport with all the hot-tempered youth that is making their way into Formula1. People like Lewis help in maintaining the integrity of the sport.
