“Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton take Liberties that Should Not be Taken” Jackie Stewart
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton
The title fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton has been one of the most intense in Formula 1, as the former managed to double his lead after the United States Grand Prix. Both drivers have been neck and neck for the whole season, and with only 5 races to go the title fight is up for grabs.
Several of the races have seen the drivers go wheel to wheel, with a few crashes also happening recently. Verstappen currently leads the title fight by 12 points. Sir Jackie Stewart thinks that nothing is set in stone yet, and that the title may be taken by either driver. However he feels that both drivers have been acting quite reckless this year.
“They have too much Freedom,” Jackie Stewart on Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton Rivalry
Jackie Stewart thinks that both drivers have been a little too enthusiastic and have been overusing their freedom.
“I think both of them are perhaps over driving a little bit at the present time as we’ve seen at least into occasions. Sometimes liberties are being taken that shouldn’t be taken so they’ve got to be careful because they shouldn’ t get too carried away by needing to win,” said Stewart to gpblog.
He said that the crash at Silverstone was a prime example of over excitement displayed by the drivers. He said that in his day, Verstappen would have died. However, now the sport has changed, and it is a lot safer than it was ever before. He further added that “There’s not the same penalties involved so maybe people are taking a little too much liberty.”
