Sebastian Vettel has surely improved upon his form after the horrendous 2020 season, joining Aston Martin. Having made a slow start in the 2021 Formula 1 season, the four-time World Champion managed to fetch his first place on the podium in Monaco. After which he has managed to look fairly decent on the form tally as well. This has made Team Principle, Otmar Szafnauer realise that his experienced driver can pull off much more. 

To bring everyone on the same page, so far the move seems to have worked for Vettel, with the German scoring points at three of his last five races. As it stands Vettel sits 10th in the drivers’ championship, 16 points clear of his teammate Lance Stroll, with Szafnauer explaining that the 34-year-old is now “very comfortable” behind the wheel of the AMR21

“There’s probably more to come from Sebastian Vettel but he’s very comfortable, he’s working well with the team and working hard to get more performance out of the car, so we’re really happy with him.”

Aston Martin made a slow start to the season but have made significant strides in recent races, with Vettel sealing the team’s first podium since they rebranded at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

I think it’s been a few things,” Szafnauer added. “Number one, if you remember back, we didn’t get much running in winter testing, we had some reliability issues, we had a driver change as well and Sebastian is getting more used to the car, he’s started scoring us points. 

“Some of the circuits that we went to also suited us a little bit better, and we’ve upgraded the car, so I think it’s a combination of all those things.”
