Saudi Arabian GP Qualifying Results: Sergio Perez grabs first career pole ahead of Ferrari duo, as Lewis Hamilton makes shocking Q1 exit

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez grabbed the first pole position of his career for the 2022 Saudi Arabian GP. The Ferrari’s of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz managed to complete the top 3 after qualifying P2 and P3.
Max Verstappen pushed hard but failed to finish in the first row of the Grid, his best timing was only good enough for a P4 spot. Mercedes have fallen further off the pace since the last weekend and it resulted in Lewis Hamilton suffering a shocking exit at Q1 for the first time since 2017.
Hamilton’s Teammate George Russell however made it till Q3 and managed a P6 spot. Even former teammate Valtteri Bottas made a charge powering him to Q3 along with veteran Fernando Alonso.

Although Lewis Hamilton made shocking news to the day, Mick Schumacher’s horrific crash in Q2 made everyone numb. The Germans suffered a very horrendous crash at Turn 12 as Schumacher hit the wall in a high-speed collision. The session was Red Flagged and the Medical car assisted Mick off the race track after a tense 20-minute halt. He is conscious and has been taken to a medical facility.
Earlier in the day, the Williams of Nicholas Latifi brought Red Flags to the first session. The Canadian lost the rear through Turn 13, spinning off and hitting the barriers at speed. Yuki Tsunoda too had an early exit after a fuel issue. The McLarens of Lando and Daniel faired to qualify P11 and P12. While Both Alpine’s grabbed a position in Q1 along with Pierre Gasly, Kevin Magnussen and Valtteri Bottas.
Ricciardo and Ocon shared an incident that is under investigation and the stewards might look into it post-session.
