Mattia Binotto the Ferrari team Principal is really happy with the performance of the team during yesterday’s practice sessions and is determined to beat Max Verstappen in Bahrain.

The duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz showed strong pace during yesterday’s practice sessions and were in the top three in both FP1 and FP2 sessions.

Going on the performances on Friday, Mattia Binotto is very hopeful that his drivers would be able to beat Max Verstappen during qualifying and also during the Grand Prix.

In post-practice interviews, Mattia said, “The tests showed that we and Verstappen would be fast with Red Bull and the first two free practice sessions proved that. We have two drivers who are mentally ready to do well for Ferrari and try to get the best possible result. They are in good shape.”

Max has come well prepared for the 2022 season and looks as if he has been driving the RB18 for years, but the RED outfit has also done their homework during the off-season and is looking to put up a fight.

You should always try to go for the best, including the victory. The competition is very strong, it’s good to believe that, but we can’t fool ourselves. My feeling? Still a little bit of relief.

The Maranello-based Italian team has come a long way after fighting in the midfield for quite a few seasons. However, in 2022 everything is falling into the right place for the team. Mattia Binotto believes that they have developed the car well for the 2022 season and has said, “With the power unit we have made a big step forward, but we have to wait for qualifying.”

He has further added, “Today we got indications, but no results. It’s a good sign to see so many Ferrari engines there [at the top]. but I’m sure Mercedes also has horsepower to play with.”

The Italian team is very optimistic about their chances in Bahrain but Mattia has not ruled out the ever-looming threat of the Mercedes F1 team. The Brackley-based team didn’t had the best of outings on Friday and the pundits are not considering them in the running for the win in Bahrain, however, Mattia is not talking the Mercedes team for granted and feels that the team has horsepower that could come in handy during the Grand Prix.
