If there was one team which managed to make full use of Lewis Hamilton – Max Verstappen clash at Monza, it was McLaren. The Papaya team managed to secure the season’s first 1-2 with Daniel Ricciardo clinching the numero uno spot, followed by the young Lando Norris. After struggling for majority of the season, the Australian Honey Badger was exceptional all weekend and truly deserved the win in every sense.
However, as Ricciardo found home to his latest grand prix win, he got highly emotional placing the trophy next to Ayrton Senna’s 1993 Australian Grand Prix. To those who are unaware, it was a race that young Daniel Ricciardo attended as a child. Coincidently this was Senna’s last victory and podium finish in the sport.

Daniel Ricciardo recently spoke of his excitement over the bonus McLaren had promised him if he finished on the podium – a drive in Dale Earnhardt’s No3 Chevrolet, which features in team boss Zak Brown’s extensive collection of historic road and racing cars.
The Australian ace driver also explained how special it felt to become a Grand Prix winner with McLaren, given team’s history with Senna. “I think McLaren, I think Senna,” he admitted post-race at Monza as quoted by RacingNews365.
In the video posted by McLaren on social media, Ricciardo can be seen placing his trophy next to Senna’s, before commenting: “I’m probably going to walk away before I start sobbing like a baby…”
