“Will wait until all contracts are signed”: Toto Wolff Reveals When Mercedes Shall be Officially Announcing Their Second Driver for 2022

Race fans all over the world have been made to wait to be made aware about the decision of Mercedes upon their second driver, who will drive alongside Lewis Hamilton in the 2022 season. According to many reports and rumors floating in the world of Formula 1, it seems like the young and energetic George Russell set to make his way into the Brackley-based team, replacing Valtteri Bottas.
Not only that, but fans have been wondering when shall Toto Wolff come out to make the official statement as it was reported earlier that the decision shall be made before the Belgian Grand Prix. However, ahead of the Dutch GP, Wolff has provided an update upon when the official decision will be announced and what is the mindset about the same within the Mercedes camp.
What was Revealed by Toto Wolff?
In a video upload by Sky Sports, Toto Wolff can be witnessed updating upon when the official decision upon George Russell and Valtteri Bottas will be made, he stated, “Waiting for all contracts to be signed and then we will make an official announcement upon George Russell or Valtteri Bottas.”
Wolff also revealed that there is no official contract been signed by any driver apart from Hamilton, With the Finn driver struggling to keep up with his form consistently, George Russell has been emphatic driving his lackluster Williams and on many occasions even delivered the best the car could ever do. Moreover, Russell’s popularity among the British fans is also quite high, which was evident in the British Grand Prix.
On the other hand, Bottas is someone, who is generally seen quiet even when he is inside his dugout with his team. Having said that, keeping aside all the speculations at least now race fans are aware when the official announcement can occur as the 2021 F1 actions moves to Zandvoort.
