‘EL PLAN!’ Fernando Alonso reveals his plans during F1 winter break
Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso, two-time F1 champion made his comeback to the F1 circuit after a two-year hiatus. Although, this was not his best year in terms of performance, the Spaniard has promised that 2021 was just the beginning of what was to follow.
Now, Fernando Alonso looks to make most out of the winter break, which will last three months. Firstly, the legendary driver will undergo a surgery to repair a fractured jaw. He suffered the incident during cycling in February this year and underwent his first surgery. However, he will need a follow-up surgery on the same.
“My destiny in the winter will be to go to the hospital,” Alonso said to El Mundo Deportivo. “First to have the plates removed from my face and jaw from the accident in February, and then to have a few weeks’ rest because of it,” he added.
Fernando Alonso optimistic about his chances in 2022 season
Fernando Alonso rounded off a good end to the season for Alpine as both Esteban Ocon and himself scored points finishes at Abu Dhabi GP. Alonso is optimistic about his chances next season, and stated what improvements the car needs going forward.
“More power on the straights are more downforce in the corners – that’s what we aim for next year!” Alonso as quoted by RacingNews365.com.
“I think the trackside [operation] is quite strong. Again, we saw [in Abu Dhabi] that we scored points with both cars, maybe in a race that we didn’t have the pace to score with both cars, so we are strong in many areas,” he added.
The Spaniard believes that they just need a competitive package from the factories, so that they can remain in contention for podium finishes next season.
“We just need a competitive package out of the factories in Enstone and Viry[-Chatillon]. We’ve been working for several months now and we have high hopes, but let’s see [during testing] in February,” the Spaniard added.
