“It’s about doing the best job,” Lando Norris insists F1 is not always about “pure success” following McLaren’s rough start to the season
Lando Norris
McLaren has started off with a rough beginning for the 2022 season after putting forth a tough fight and finishing forth on the constructors championship last year alongside a memorable 1-2 finish at Monza. Lando Norris talks about Formula One not being all about “pure success” throughout.
The team is struggling to get points with Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo spending their time at the back of the gird in the Bahrain Grand Prix, season opener for the 2022 campaign. Before Lando was able to bag some points for the team in the Saudi Arabian GP. As off now none of the drivers have qualified in Q3 and are struggling to make it to top 10.
“Of course, it hurts and it’s painful knowing you could do the best job you’ve ever done and you could end up P15 or 13 or 16 or whatever.” Said Lando Norris showing his frustration towards the way things are turning out for the team as he wants to get back on top winning points and making the most out of it.
Lando Norris is hurt as he now faces the other side of the Formula One which isn’t always about success and winning but about not getting results even though one puts forth all that he has got due to unforsaken factors. “Formula 1 isn’t always about that, just pure success and podiums, it’s about doing the best job you can.” Added Lando.
Lando Norris places confidence in the engineering team
Whilst McLaren showed some improvement in the Saudi Arabian GP, concerns around the team consistency is still at play. As Daniel Ricciardo is yet to add points on the table and is seen struggling by the day with the car.
However, “It might be our philosophy, it could be many different things,” he speculated when addressing what has gone wrong so far.” Says Norris by placing confidence in the engineering team. James Key, executive technical director for McLaren oversees everything and understands “what could be going wrong and what might be the issues.” Added Norris.
Norris puts forth all of his faith in the team as he is confident in the team for assembling this brilliant car and knows what might have gone right or wring with it. Hence Lando leave it to the team to figure out the rest and acknowledges their hard work.
