“Lewis Hamilton beat me,” Sebastian Vettel refuses to give advice to Max Verstappen
Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel, four time F1 champion is one of the most experienced drivers on the circuit. The Aston Martin driver made his switch from Ferrari this year, after enduring a poor season. The opening four races of the season have all been about Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. The Briton has won three races, whereas, Max Verstappen has managed to win one race so far.
Sebastian Vettel stated that he had no advice to give to Max Verstappen, because Hamilton had beaten him in 2017 and 2018. Vettel challenged the Briton in 2017 and 2018, when he was still a Ferrari driver, but came up short.
“No advice,” Vettel told reporters in Monaco. “Obviously I didn’t succeed, Lewis beat me, so it’s better not to give him any advice!. I guess he wants to succeed. It’s a long year, there are a lot of races so, I don’t know, it doesn’t work like this. I’m not giving him any advice,” he added.
It’s great if you are fighting for the lead: Sebastian Vettel
Mercedes have dominated F1 since the past seven years, and are chasing their eighth consecutive constructors championship this season. The German giants have often been unchallenged in the past three seasons. Ferrari gave the Silver Arrows a tough fight in 2017 and 2018, but fell down the pecking order.
Sebastian Vettel believes that Red Bull’s rise to prominence is a good sign for F1, as two cars fight it out against each other for the championship.
“I didn’t see a big deal of it because I was quite a long way back [in the field], but I think ultimately they are very close in pace and if you are very close in pace then you are fighting for the same spot on track more often,” he said.
“It’s great if you are fighting for the lead and you have two drivers, two different cars fighting each other. We will see how it pans out over the course of the year,” Vettel added.
