Max Verstappen was having a blood pressure test when Lewis Hamilton went off the tracks

Max Verstappen suffered a nightmare finish to the Azerbaijan GP on Sunday, as the Dutch driver suffered a tyre failure which ended his race. The Red Bull driver was all set to secure his second consecutive victory, and extend his lead at the top of the championship.
A red flag was waved after Max Verstappen’s high paced crash, which meant that the race would be restarted for just three laps. When the race was restarted, Lewis Hamilton failed to brake in time, and went off the tracks. The Briton who started from P2 during the restart, managed to finish only 15th on Sunday.
Max Verstappen was having his blood pressure test done, when Lewis Hamilton went off the tracks on Turn One. “I was laying on that bed, they were checking my blood pressure and suddenly my phone was vibrating and I thought ‘what’s going on’ because I could hear the cars, of course. Then I was done and allowed to leave and saw on my phone that Lewis had a problem in Turn 1. My blood pressure, even with that text message, was absolutely fine,” said Max.
We lost a lot of points: Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen stated that Red Bull lost a lot of points on Sunday, after his crash. Red Bull were all set for a 1-2 finish as Sergio Perez held up Lewis Hamilton prior to the red flag. However, the Mexican managed to finish P1 and claim 25 points for his team. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas both finished outside points, as Red Bull extend their lead at the top of the constructors championship.
“We lost a lot of points, we could have opened up the gap in the Championship, so to have this happening, especially so close to the end, is very frustrating. It’s a shame. I wanted to open up the gap a little bit more before we go back to those kind of [non-street] tracks. But we are still leading the Championship, which I didn’t expect when we hit that wall,” said Max.
Max Verstappen revealed that there was no prior indication regarding the tyre failure, which shocked him and his team. “I didn’t feel anything up until the moment when I suddenly went [into the barrier]. The tyre just blew off the rim and it’s not a nice impact to have. It’s quite a dangerous place to have a tyre blowout at that speed,” said the Dutch driver.
